Famous New York Architects

New York has a very rich architectural heritage, and many architects in the city find it easy to forge successful careers in this area. Unfortunately, there are few people who can boast about having made it big in this field. There are some outstanding, successful architects whose names have become household names throughout the country. Here are some of the more famous New York architects.
Louis Sullivan was one of the pioneers of modern architecture in New York. He was among the most brilliant of architects and started his career as an apprentice to the more famous Alexander Gilbert Scott. In addition to his architecting skills, he was an extremely talented draftsman. As a matter of fact, there are many buildings in New York that bear his name, including the Sullivan Building at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel and the Esplanade at Central Park. It is a matter of pride for the descendants of the Scotts to be associated with their great-grandfather, since most of their lineage has been involved in some fashion with the building industry.

The other famous New York architect was Albert Speer. Albert was born in Austria and worked in Germany as a draftsman, developing plans for houses, and designing factories. He came to New York in 1912 and set up shop as a draftsman at a firm that was known as Speer and Company. Albert is best known for the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, the Agha Khan Museum in California, and many other major buildings in the United States.
Another of the well-known New York architects  was Louis Comfort Tiffany. Tiffany was born in the Bronx and was brought up in poverty. He decided to attend the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where he became a member of the bandleader group, The Phillips and Partners. When the group disbanded, he moved to New York, where he worked in an advertising agency, and later at the Wyndham hotel.
The last of the New York architects is Albert Crain. Crain was a classicist, who wrote books and papers on architectural styles. His works include the Tiffany Empire State Building in New York City, the Crain Restaurant in New York City, and the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. He also designed many parks, including the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago.
Today, New York has a lot of interesting buildings, from skyscrapers in Manhattan to parks in the Bronx. If you enjoy beautiful architecture, you should certainly consider living in New York City. You will be sure to enjoy all the culture and history that the city has to offer.
All of the New York architects mentioned above lived in New York at different times in their lives. Their work was influenced by their upbringing, and they all carry much of their personal style with them to their current homes. That said, you may want to consider using their current designs when you're looking to purchase your next home.
New York has a lot to offer in terms of architecture. As the most populated city in the US, and one of the leading cities of the world, it is no surprise that so many people have chosen to live there over their other options.
